I'm a Gryffindor and I think it would be pretty cool to speak Parseltounge. (BTW, how is it spelled?). Very interesting, I've always wanted to talk to animals no matter what kind it was...

i cant see a down side to speaking Parseltounge. other that people thinking your crazy of devilish or related to voldy, but still being able to have a pet you could talk to would be pritty useful in knowing what they like and dislike(wouldnt hurt to sick them on your enemies ether)
