Definitely my favourite anime series. (:
Was a fantastic read. Is it sad that I know the day of which I started finished it >_> haha _________________ "But Harry didn’t care, he wouldn’t have cared if Karkaroff had given him zero; Ron’s indignation on his behalf was worth about a hundred points to him."

My friend has this really awesome theory about L being addicted to meth, like... actually in the story, or addicted to something similar, & it explains all his little "quirks" that fangirls think are so cute, hahaha. But when I look at him, I see a gross wreck of a person now xD

I prefer L.

I was so sure Near would become mah favourite character...
but no
Mello does it for me : )
Death Note is epically uber, although I've only soon random episodes
lesee, I saw up to ten then 25-27 because I recently bought the DVD...
Teh commentary is funneh ^^
What's even funnier is you can buy Death Notes at an anime convention for 9. 99...
I has little Light and Ryuuk figures. Tis fun to knock their heads off.
Oh, I wanna see the movie! Live action Light...I know a perfect look alike...//coughsignaturecough// _________________

^Yet more proof that a decently-made cast, especially an anime voice-cast, wouldn't be enough to deal with severe flaws, unless everything else right about a series or movie franchise, would be prepared to back it up, right?
More proof?
There was never any proof that a cast alone could make something good.
I wasn't asking for more proof, i was trying to admit i see your point, or i am beginning to remember it well, Rorschach. _________________ http://new.music.yahoo.com/videos/--2158267

Several of you are under the delusion that Light becomes a Shinigami when he dies. This is untrue.
Ryuk clearly states that humans do not go to heaven or hell. Indeed, this is a rule of the Death Note, as seen below.
1. All humans, without exception, eventually die.
2. After they die, the place they go is Mu (nothingness).
3. Once dead, they can never come back to life.
4. No one, not even the gods of death, can bring a human back from the dead.
A complete list of the rules of the Death Note can be found here: http://deathnote.wikia.com/wiki/The_Rules_of_Death_Note _________________

I've been recently starting reading a LOT of manga lately. And Death Note is far by my absolute favorite. All I've been talking about lately is Death Note this, Death Note that...o.o' I love the plot, the suspense, and especially L. Of course, even when
Spoiler:
L died,
it didn't stop me from reading on. Near is awesome, too, but not as nearly as L! And I was so thrilled when
Spoiler:
Light died (sorry, fans).
I was kinda, ehm, going crazy because
Spoiler:
it's revenge for L's death! muahhaaa! >D finally, Light, the end is near. Pun intended.
So, it's become on of my ultimate favorite manga now X3
(someone tell me, do I really have to put the spoiler tags? -.-) _________________

Death Note is one of my most favorite animes. EVER. Period. It's exciting. intriguing and you just simply can't stop watching. Though yes, I agree that it went a little bit downhill after
Spoiler:
L's death.
I am thinking about reading the manga as well.
By the way, the live action movies were very well made, even though they didn't follow the anime's plot precisely. _________________ I can resist everything except temptation. - Oscar Wilde
Yes, I agree with Little Ms. Dreamy! It was really exciting, and kept you on. The thing I liked about it was that it wasn't like most animes--where there's always flashy fighting stuff. Death Note was about who would win by the cleverest. It actually had suspense.
You should read the manga. It's amazing! And yeah, I love the live-action movies...although it COULD have been made better. It was interesting to watch, anyway. _________________

Yes, that is a huge plus in my opinion. Unlike the most shounen-series, this one was about intellectual way of fighting. _________________ I can resist everything except temptation. - Oscar Wilde
^ I've seen/read quite a lot of animes/mangas, but my favourites are Death Note, Gankutsuo: The Count of Monte Cristo and I also found Ouran High School Host Club to be incredibly funny. Otherwise, the most of tv-shows or mangas I've spent my time on were okay (some of them were quite lovely, some of them were "OMG! WTF just happened? Bitter Virgin
One Piece
Gravitation
Great Teacher Onizuka
Berserk
These are the ones that, at the very least, are decent, and each one is better than Death Note.

Alright, One Piece isn’t that good, although vastly superior to Death Note. But, Berserk is so much better than Death Note that it’s ridiculous.
You are forgiven if you based your decisions on the English dubs. Hell, I’ll even let it pass if you’re basing it on the Berserk anime. But, if you are placing Death Note above the Berserk manga, well, then there will be blood.
Since you’re female, I will give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume that you’re basing it on the English dub of the anime. _________________

First of all, I NEVER watch anime with English dub. English dub is so awful that my ears bleed. Second of all, I never read Berserk or Death Note - i watched animes. Well, I tried to get through the first book of Berserk, but it was just confusing as hell. Probably I should give it another shot. But yes, I loved the Berserk-anime. Completely amazing, but the end was like "OMFG, WTF just happened? O.o". I think that both Berserk and Death Note are very psychological and intriguing, but still I prefer Death Note ^^ It's just a personal opinion.
When it comes to One Piece, I was trying to get through the first four or five books that one time when my internet got completely screwed and I couldn't use it ( ), so I read everything I could find at the library. To be honest, I got really disappointed with One Piece. Yeah, they are quite funny, but not really my style, so to say.
Next series: Bitter Virgin - it was so boring I almost fell asleep during the first chapter... I never made it to the end of the story.
Gravitation - liked it a lot. A very nice shounen ai, but I really can't compare it with Death Note. Too different genres, and I prefer more "serious" stories.
GTO - got REALLY disappointed and never watched the anime till the very end. I remember how a couple of my friends recommended it to me, and said how much they lol'ed while watching it, but I never found it to be that amusing... _________________ I can resist everything except temptation. - Oscar Wilde
For example, the Cowboy Bebop and Full Metal Alchemist dubs are better than the original voice acting.
Most of the time, the English dubs are pretty awful, but there are a few that are worth checking out.
Little Ms. Dreamy wrote:

That is a shame.
Both manga are better than their anime adaptations, with the ending of the Death Note manga been much better than that of the anime.
Little Ms. Dreamy wrote:

Really? I thought it was pretty straightforward.
What did you find so confusing about it? Were you under the assumption that the first volume took place before the final episode of the anime?
Little Ms. Dreamy wrote:
Probably I should give it another shot.
Yes, you should.
Objectively speaking, the Berserk manga is a contender for the title of greatest manga ever produced. It is by far superior to the anime in every regard, and the artwork in the most recent volumes is arguably the best manga art ever.
But, the first two volumes, and the beginning half of the third volume aren’t that great, mediocre really. The manga really takes off at the start of The Golden Age arc, which is also what the anime was based on.
Little Ms. Dreamy wrote:
But yes, I loved the Berserk-anime.
As you should.
Though the animation hasn’t really aged well.
Oh, and it looks like a new Berserk anime might be in production.
Little Ms. Dreamy wrote:

Believe it or not, that part in the manga is actually more violent than the anime. Actually, the anime was heavily censored in comparison to the manga.
Little Ms. Dreamy wrote:

I disagree with you on Death Note.
I thought the Death Note anime was just terrible, and the manga mediocre at best. To me, it was something that attempted to be smart and intriguing, but failed terribly.
Little Ms. Dreamy wrote:

I can’t argue with you on this.
Hell, I like my share of crap as well. Why, Kung Pow: Enter the Fist is one of my favorite films, and it’s downright terrible.
That said, check out Monster. It’s an anime and manga series that is actually very intelligent. Most people I’ve recommended it to agree that it makes Death Note look like a pile of crap.
Little Ms. Dreamy wrote:

I don’t read One Piece regularly.
Not because I think it’s bad, but because it’s so long. I’m going to wait until it’s done, and then read it from the very beginning.
From what I’ve read, it’s one of the best mainstream manga titles ever published. Not on par with the likes of Berserk, Monster, Planetes, Vagabond, etc, but much better than mainstream titles like Bleach, Naruto, Death Note, Dragon Ball, Yu Yu Hakusho, Saint Seiya, etc.
Little Ms. Dreamy wrote:
Bitter Virgin - it was so boring I almost fell asleep during the first chapter... I never made it to the end of the story.
It was nothing special.
Pretty mediocre, though I wouldn’t call it terrible or anything. That said, I believe it was better written than Death Note.
Little Ms. Dreamy wrote:

Comparing in what ways you enjoyed two stories from two different genres is one thing, but surely you can tell which was better written?
You know, it’s like comparing a sitcom to a drama series. Like say, comparing Everybody Loves Raymond to The Wire.
I mean, sure, you can’t really compare the two because of how different they are, but you can still conclude which one is the better show, by judging the shows for what they were.
Anyway, the point I’m trying to get across is that Gravitation does what it sets out do, much better than what Death Note sets out to do.
Little Ms. Dreamy wrote:

Again, it’s not something that I thought was downright amazing (speaking of the anime specifically), but I felt that it was superior to Death Note.
Anyway, watch Monster, and see if it takes the place of Death Note as your favorite anime. _________________
To put our discussion to the conclusion I can say that I really like Death Note, and I will not change my mind about it But you've made me interested in trying to read Berserk again ^^ _________________ I can resist everything except temptation. - Oscar Wilde
