I never understood the appeal of this pairing. I agree the end result would have made Severus a much happier person, but I just cant imagine them being anymore than what they were. Besides if Lily hadn't ended up with James, Harry would have never been born and then the chosen one would have been Neville, and who wants that!

Neville is soooooo not chosen one quality. He's ugly. lolz
Also, Snape wouldn't be much of a tragic hero if he got what he wanted. Half his appeal is that he is a tragic hero. _________________ [insert distracting .gif here]

A., Neville is adorable. He's more awkward than Harry, even. I like awkward heroes.
B., I liked him before he was tragic. He's just got that dark sense of humour you've got to love. _________________
He's got one up on Harry, being that Harry has no idea that magic exists before he's eleven! You're just cheering for athlete with Nikes!
I don't remember Snape having much of a dark sense of humor, but then again, those were his formative years. Besides, I think Lily's a snob. Seriously, no one else thought that she was going to laugh at him when he was upside-down? _________________ [insert distracting .gif here]

I am.
I don't know what you mean about the whole "Nike" thing, but I think Neville would have done a fine job as the BWL. There wasn't that dire hatred for him from Snape that there was with Harry, so you'd think he would have tried much harder to teach him. Neville would have probably had more confidence, being the BWL...
but all that is assuming he lived. And with his parents incapacitated...
I'm talking about in the books, not the Maradur years (Because we unfortunately don't get to see too much of those). I don't know if Lily is a snob, but honestly, you claim to be someone's best friend. You know more than anyone else their struggles, their pain, and how much they hate the person who is hanging them upside-down. Laugh? She deserved to be called a "mudblood". _________________
I think that Lily and Snape would have been good together because Snape wanted her more than James did but instead of Snape being Harry's father, James could have married some other girl. _________________ - Phoenix118
Without doubt Lily and James. They just belong together. Snape is too cold. The only person he ever loved was Lily, he never had any friends, I assume he hated his parents.....I could never see Lily with someone like that. _________________
Ok, from what I saw of James, I'm not a fan of him. He was immature and bullied Snape just for kicks. He did not deserve an angel like Lily.
As for Snape, I'm a SnapeXLilly shipper, but at the same time, I understand that they've got a lot to work thru. Let's start with the shampoo day and end with putting away dark arts for good. Then there's that temper. I'm just as big of a fan of letting him meet another woman, preferably a Slytherin who would understand his passion for the Dark Arts a bit more than Lily did.

I agree
I'm not a fan of James either and sometimes I don't get how he ended up with Lily. I'm kinda for Lily and Snape because I think he truly loved her.. Except if ever they got together, I think Lily would've left Snape the moment she understood she can't change him. Even after her death, I'm not sure we can say anything changed in Severus..he just displayed how much he always loved Lily and always will, *sniff*.;_; _________________ House: Hufflpuff

I think Snape deserved some happiness! If Lily could have just forgiven him.. *sigh* I love Snape, and I wold have loved to see him be with the one person he ever cared so deeply about. But, I think he is with her now, in heaven, or the afterlife, or whatever there is for wizards. Lol. I think Lily has seen all he did for her, and she will comfort him for eternity. _________________

Snape &+ Lily would've been sweet, but then he wouldn't be Snape. He did love Lily but he kinda messed it up himself by calling her a Mudblood. His fault >.<
But if James &+ Lily hadn't got together there would be no Harry!
But what makes me smile is that Snape loved Harry all along cause he was like the only part of Lily left... <3
Maybe they would have ended up together, but in all honesty I see Lily going more with James than with Snape.
And I think Lily Potter's more catchy than Lily Snape--just my opinion. Besides, Snape's already taken by a hundred other fangirls, so he won't be really lonely--freaked out maybe, but definitely not lonely. _________________

i think i really love the idea of snape and lily. he loved her a lot, i mean his patronus is the same as hers. _________________ they can fire everything they've got,

Considering that he was falling deeper and deeper in with the rough equivalent of a white supremacist gang and he called her the wizarding equivalent of the n-word... No. Absolutely not. If she had stayed with him it would indicate some very serious self-esteem issues and I'd be very worried about her. I'm far from a fan of James (as a person, anyway), but she chose the better guy.
Honestly, it bugs me how many people forget that, yes, Snape was an abused little woobie, but he joined the Death Eaters. Willingly. That makes him a pretty bad match for a muggle-born. _________________ ~You taste just like glitter mixed with rock-and-roll~
To be fair, he also left the Death Eaters and turned spy against them, at great personal risk to himself. Willingly. I think he definitely re-examined his attitudes, in DH he got angry at Phineas Nigellus when he used the word "Mudblood". He changed his attitudes when he grew up, and redeemed himself. _________________ The above post may contain sarcasm, irony, stupidity, name-calling, rash generalisations and traces of nut.

True, but this attitude change occurred well after Lily had already married James and had a kid with him. In order for Severus/Lily to be canon, she'd have had to choose Severus over James while Severus was still up to his neck in the Dark Arts and blood supremacy. _________________ ~You taste just like glitter mixed with rock-and-roll~
Yes, you're right. I like Snape/Lily, but I think I prefer it as an unrequited love, or in AU. There's really no good place for it to happen in canon. _________________ The above post may contain sarcasm, irony, stupidity, name-calling, rash generalisations and traces of nut.

No, because then the books would be: 'Neville Longbottom and the Philosopher's Stone' which would have deleted Harry Potter out of it completely. And Voldermort might have won. And I'm stuck with Snape/Hermione anyway _________________
I absolutely love the idea of Lily/Snape, mainly because I just feel so bad for Snape after reading the books, but everyone's made a really good point-- if Neville was the Chosen One, we'd all be screwed. _________________ 3.14.08 <3
