| I chose "Yes I'm okay with it" because he is JKR character afterall. She invented him and she can chose who he is. I'm only now 1/2 through the 6th book (for the first time) and after hearing this it hasn't changed the way I view DD as a character. |

| Its bullshit, he isn't gay, sry. He can't be gay AFTER the book is over and done with. She didn't write it in the books so he isn't. She is just trying to stay in the press, not like she needs any help with that.... |

I love the fact that he is gay. It answers so many questions. I also think that Jo was wise in her decision to wait until after the last book was out to inform us of this. _________________

I have to agree. It doesn't seem right to make a hero of many school age kids like that. It seems like a publicity stunt. _________________ heh.

She didn't make him gay after the book, she just explained that when she wrote about the DD/GW relationship she intended for children to not think anything of it but for the adults to understand that it was love that blinded him. _________________

It's not as if it's changed a major event in the book, I don't care whether he's gay/straight/whatever. What pees me off is when people think "Oh! He's a paedophile!" _________________

Yes, 'course I'm fine with it. But I don't think he's actually gay.
His only romantic interest was Grindelwald. And when their friendship backfired and Dumbledore gave up on his and Grindelwald's naive views on Wizards and Muggles he, intern, became asexual and never had a romantic infatuation with another. He did so because love for Grindelwald blinded him into seeing what was just.
Anyone else agree here? He might have, at one point, been gay. But he certainly isn't by the time Harry comes to school. _________________

It's such a stereotype when people think gay guys should be wearing flip-flops and have overly-excessive gelled hair and "girly" voices and lesbians should be butch and wear jean-shorts all the time. (These are stereotypes I've heard (those and more) growing up.) It's disgusting. Dumbledore was a brilliant wizard and knowing he's gay shouldn't make his character any less likeable! _________________

Here, here! I have gay friends and none of them are like that. _________________

Well, those are just the stereotypes. I have many GLBT friends. I just think it's wrong that people think that way about people of a different orientation as them. _________________

Being a gay guy myself of course I'm okay with it. I never saw it coming and it was quite a surprise but I love that he's been outed. It shows a lot of courage for Jo to do this. _________________

I am 100% fine with DD being gay !
Also being Gay isnt 'wrong' each to their own and all that !
The most stupid argument as to why DD shouldnt be gay really gets me the reason being . .
' Its a kids book, She shouldnt have done that to any of the characters its just not appropriate'
I mean honestly we obviously are a very homo - phobic generation and beleifs like that will only carry it on to the next generation, I think JKR done the right thing. If she seen DD as gay then thats what he is ! before she anounced this people loved DD and she obviously wrote the book with the understanding that the character was gay. So why should youre view of him change now ? |

I never thought he was gay until JKR told us. It doesn't matter to me either way. He's still one of the greatest wizards of our time. _________________
